The long vowel letters are three () their main function is to stretch the sound of a letter with a short vowel.
Alif
At the end of a word, the long vowel letter alif appears as a (ya) with no dots but a small curved line on top of it.
When the next letter of a fatha letter is long vowel letter alif then, the sound of fatha and alif is stretched by two measures of vowel fatha.
